National Institute of Fashion Technology (College) conducts College entrance exam in order to shortlist aspirants for admission in design programmes offered by it. Considered to be a pioneer in fashion education, College has its headquarters in New Delhi. Apart from this city, College has domestic centres at Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Patna, Shillong and Raebareli.

Candidates need to fulfill multiple College Entrance Exam 2018 eligibility criteria if they want to secure admission in Bachelor of Design programmes offered at National Institute of Fashion Technology. College offers BDes programme in the following specialisations:

  • Fashion Design
  • Leather Design
  • Accessory Design
  • Textile Design
  • Knitwear Design
  • Fashion Communication

Candidates are eligible to apply for admissions in BDes programmes in the above mentioned specialisations if they fulfill any of the below mentioned criterion:

  • Have completed their +2 level (in the 10+2 pattern of examination) from any recognised Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, like Central Board of Secondary Education / State Board New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
  • Have cleared the General Certificate Education (GCE) Exam (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB).
  • Have studied at any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in Foreign countries which is recognised by the Association of Indian Universities to be equivalent to 10+2 system.
  • Possess a pass grade in their Senior Secondary School Examination which is conducted by the National Open School having atleast five subjects.
  • Possess a three or four year diploma which is recognised by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

Age Limit for College's Bachelors Programmes: Candidates will be considered eligible to apply for College Entrance Test if they are 23 years of age or below as on October 1, 2017. However, candidates from the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribe/ Differently Abled Person (PHP) category will be given age relaxation of five years for admissions.

College Entrance Exam 2018 Eligibility Criteria for NLEA to BDes

Candidate meet the eligibility criteria for NLEA for BDes course if they fulfill the below mentioned requirements:

  • Have cleared Secondary School Examination/10th

                                                                      OR

  • Have cleared Senior Secondary Examination/12threcognised by AIU.

                                                                      AND

  • Have cleared 3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE/AIU/UGC or a State Board of Technical Education

                                                                      AND

  • Have attended courses related to Fashion/Apparel/Textile and Accessories/Home Science/Handloom Technology/Products/Visual Communication/Graphic Design/Industrial Design/Interior Design/Multimedia Design/Apparel Technology/Leather.

                                                                       OR

  • Students who have completed 2 year regular UG Diploma Programme at College.

Apart from this, 15% of seats (that is, 5 seats in each course) at College are reserved for foreign nationals/SAARC/NRIs. Such candidates will be offered admissions based on the below mentioned exams:

  • College Entrance Exam Pattern: In order to secure admissions at College, candidates will have to appear for two different written/online objective type tests which are called General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT).

    The official website states: “On the basis of result of written test GAT and CAT, BDes candidates will be called for second test called Situation Test. For BFTech, GAT will be the final test for selection. The candidates for MDes will take GAT and CAT. On the basis of result of GAT and CAT, in case of MDes, and GAT in case of MFTech and MFM, candidates will be called for Group Discussion/Personal Interview”.     College Entrance Exam Pattern: Creative Ability Test (CAT)

    “This test is administered to judge the intuition skill, power of observation, innovation in development of a concept and design ability of the candidate. An important aspect of the test is the creative and innovative use of colour and illustration skills”, states the official College website.

    College Entrance Exam Pattern: General Ability Test (GAT)

     

    Candidates seeking admissions in BDes and MDes programmes at College need to appear for GAT. This test comprises of the below mentioned sections:

  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs
  • The duration of GAT is 120 minutes and the language of this written test is English. While formulating the merit list for BDes and MDes course admissions 30% weighatge is allotted to GAT section of College entrance exam.

    College GAT Test Structure for BFTech, MFM, MDes and MFTech

    Candidates seeking admissions in BFTech, MFM, MDes and MFTech courses at College need to appear for a three hour GAT. The structure of this test is as follows:

    College Situation Test

    Candidates who have been shortlisted for College BDes admissions on the basis of their written test need to appear for College Situation Test 2018 wherein their “material handling and innovative ability” will be tested.

    Here, candidates will be evaluated on “on Space Visualization, Innovative and creative use of given material, composition of elements, colour scheme, construction skill , finesse of the model and overall presentation etc. These parameters will be checked with the write up explaining the concept / idea behind the model constructed. The weightage of the write up is 30%. Since the medium of teaching in College is English, the write-up will be in English language. No marks will be given for write-up in any other language”, specifies the official website.

    College Group Discussion

    Candidates who have been shortlisted for Masters Programmes on the basis of their written entrance examination need to undergo Case Study based Group Discussions (GD) and College Personal Interview round. In the College admissions 2018 Group Discussion round candidates will be further shortlisted on the below mentioned basis:

College Entrance Exam is conducted in the month of February each year and College result for the written entrance examination for National Institute of Fashion Technology (College) admissions is declared in March every year. However, the result for College written entrance exam is just the first step towards shortlisting candidates for admission in BDes and MDes programmes offered at College campuses.

The final merit list for College admissions 2018 is declared on the official College website by the end of May/June each year.

College Entrance Exam 2018 Tie-Break

Candidates are informed that when College entrance exam results are announced if two or more candidates score the same marks then in order to determine the rank of aspirants, tie-break is done. The means through which this tie-break is done is the age of candidates. Thus, the student who is older (basis the date of birth mentioned in their College application form) is given a higher rank in College entrance exam 2018.

College Scorecard

Once candidates view their College entrance exam result, they need to download their College scorecard. Thereafter, candidates need to take a clear print of their College entrance exam 2018 scorecard. It is mandatory for candidates to take a print of their scorecard for College admissions as at the time of counselling all shortlisted candidates need to carry their College scorecard in order to secure admission in the course and college of their choice.

National Institute of Fashion Technology (College) conducts an entrance exam in order to shortlist aspirants for admission in the month of February each year. Also, College admit card for the design entrance exam is released in the month of January each year. College entrance exam admit card is available online only and candidates can only download it from the official website. Aspirants are informed that College admit card would not be sent to them by any other means such as by post or by hand under any circumstance.

Candidates need to download College admit card from the official website of the design entrance exam as per the schedule mentioned by College authorities. Aspirants can download College entrance exam admit card by providing their details such as six digit application number, date of birth and email ID.

Candidates need to positively download and take a clear print of their College admit card. Aspirants are informed that they will not be allowed to appear for College Entrance Exam 2018 if they are not carrying a valid College admit card to their allotted College exam centre on the day of the design entrance examination.

College entrance exam admit card contains a lot of details and aspirants should ensure that all the information mentioned on their admit card for College admissions is accurate. Details that candidates should check on their admit card for College Entrance Exam 2018 are – Full name, roll number, category, name of course applied for admission, reporting time for exam, exam duration, College test centre address, photograph and signature.

College Admit Card 2018 for Situation Test/GD/PI

Once aspirants clear the written entrance exam for admissions and make it to College merit list then they need to further appear for the Situation Test in order secure admission in BDes programme and for admission in master’s programmes they need to appear for Group Discussion/Interview round.

Candidates who are shortlisted to appear in the Situation Test/GD/PI round need to further download another admit card for College admissions. In order to download College admit card for these admission rounds, candidates need to simply visit the official website of College and enter details such as – Application number, roll number and date of birth. Once these details are submitted, the admit card opens on the screen and thereafter candidates need to take a clear print of their College admit card and carry the same to their College test centre.
